STATEMENT

I have been honored to represent our community on this critical commission which profoundly shapes the development of our Town. I have found that to arrive at well-founded decisions in the best interest of our Town, it is important to ask tough questions, require complete information from the parties, research the issues of law and fact, and listen to the parties and members of the public.

Our Town’s residents are very concerned over the future development of our town, but are not always aware of important land use issues. That's why I launched a bi-monthly newsletter on key applications and planning initiatives that impact our Town, to encourage public participation and help residents become informed to have their voices heard.

Land is our most finite of resources, and decisions rendered by local zoning commissions are permanent. Decisions by the TPZ play a critical role in our economic and environmental health and the vibrancy and desirability of our Town. As a Fairfield native, I want to continue to use my experience in land-use and knowledge of our town to arrive at well-founded decisions. I am also president of a grassroots organization, CT169Strong, fighting against State legislative initiatives that seek to replace local land use decision making authority with centralized planning mandates.

Land-use decisions should not be partisan, because they impact everyone and everything. If re-elected, I will continue to be a voice for our Town in all aspects of the TPZ’s authority: long-term planning, zoning regulations and reviewing development applications.
