STATEMENT

I am seeking reelection to Town Plan & Zoning Commission to continue my work supporting our Town’s best long-term interests, by carefully reviewing and considering individual zoning permit applications, coastal site plan reviews, zoning regulation changes, and our Town's next long-term Plan of Conservation and Development.

I will continue to work towards seeking an optimal balance of residential and commercial development with open space and historic resource preservation.

In my 20 years of pro bono legal advocacy, I helped neighborhood groups in public hearings and in Court and by providing information sessions on how to navigate the procedures and raise substantive issues to best to protect the community, emphasizing open space preservation and environmental protection.

While on the TPZ Commission, I often ask questions of residents that speak in the public comment portion of a hearing, because Town residents are the experts in their own neighborhood, and we benefit from this information.

I believe we can find creative ways to balance the often conflicting needs for a greater diversity of housing, including senior and affordable housing, with the to protection of open space, neighborhood cohesion, and our unique New England atmosphere.

Within each plan or proposal that comes before us, and within the confines of State law and our regulations, there is room to advocate for the long term economic, environmental, and societal health of our Town, and that is what I will continue to do, if re-elected to the TPZ Commission.
