Our 2023 Team

My name is Anders, I am a senior in high school, and for a while, I’ve had an interest in politics, both on the national and local levels.

I’ve been following it from a distance, but with Know Your Reps, I can actually get involved on the local level, where one person can make more of a difference, and where there is more room for improvement in terms of engagement. Voter turnout for municipal elections is nowhere near presidential election turnout, even though, per-vote, you have more of an impact on the local level. It’s not unheard of for municipal elections to be decided by one or two votes. As far as I can tell, local election’s disappointing voter turnout is caused by three things: a lack of media coverage, people barely understanding who it is they’re voting for, and at worst, people not even understanding what the position the candidates are running for entails. Know Your Reps aims to amend these, and hopefully increase both voter turnout and general enthusiasm towards municipal elections. I was aware of Know Your Reps’ run in Fairfield but did not participate. I loved the idea, though, and saw how they were able to interact with candidates and even invite them over for video interviews. This year, I wanted to mirror the success Know Your Reps had, but for Litchfield, a smaller town, where a project like this could have even more of an impact. I’m excited to be able to lead this Know Your Reps branch, and hopefully live up to the example the Fairfield branch set.

Hi, I'm My name is Aaryan Chitnis and I am a senior at Fairfield Warde High School. I have an interest in politics and public policy and do a lot of local political and civic work. I am concerned that the United States has the lowest voter turnout among industrialized countries. At the national level, I believe that apathy has fueled the disconnect between individual voters and the political process, leading to a lack of civic engagement in volunteering, community involvement, and grassroots activism. I am proud to be part of a nonpartisan civic outreach group that educates Fairfield voters about local candidates. I believe that if voters can become engaged in the democratic process at the local level, it will have a positive impact beyond the ballot box and above the municipal level.

Hi, I'm Charles Murphy. I am helping create content for Know Your Reps.

I will be creating and managing their web/digital profile. I have loved creating videos for a while, and have a growing interest in politics. I find it essential to give the people the truth, so I am incredibly excited and honored to create content for Know Your Reps and help guide people to understand who, what, and why they vote for someone to help people make their own decisions with no uncertainty, but confidence and pride.
