Learn About Us

Know Your Reps was founded in 2018 in Fairfield, Connecticut. It successfully served local voters during the municipal elections in 2019 and 2021, and is expanding to the Town of Litchfield in 2023. Find out everything you want to know about Know Your Reps below.

How We Started

Know Your Reps was created by John Warburg and Sarah Karlson, two longtime Connecticut residents. The idea for Know Your Reps came about after we realized there was no single place to find comprehensive information about ALL the candidates running for office in our town elections. This made it challenging for even the motivated, engaged voter to make informed choices — much less the average busy citizen! We wondered: why isn’t there a single place to go to for helpful information about all the candidates? We decided to “be the change” — and Know Your Reps was born.

Our 2023 Team

Know Your Reps believes strongly in including young people on our team. Each year we work with a group of amazing high school students who do everything from putting up flyers around town to conducting video interviews with candidates. We were pleased - and also proud! - when some KYR Student Team Members received the Red, White and Blue Schools from the Connecticut Secretary of State in 2022 in recognition of their hard work and commitment to civic engagement in the state.

We believe it is important for the public to understand Know Your Reps' commitment to impartiality. Know Your Reps is a completely non-partisan, not-for-profit website that provides unbiased information about candidates for public office. Our Candidate Profiles are based on information obtained directly from the candidates and from publicly available sources. You will not find any candidate advertising, debating, or campaigning on our website. We do not endorse any candidates. You can contact us with any questions using the button below.
